Delee’s story (extract)

‘My name’s Delee Jones, I’m 62 years old. First of all (I struggled) with just reading – but then distance started to come into it too. In the wintertime, we snowmobile but I wouldn’t wear my glasses when sledding because they would fog up. In the summertime, I like to ride my bike – I used to struggle with, should I wear my glasses or shouldn’t I? I could see, but I couldn’t see the ground as well. When I went to my ophthalmologist, my doctor told me I had some choices – but with the PanOptix® lens, that gives you the vision from close up, to middle, to distance – and probably never have to wear glasses again. I thought, why would I not do that? It was amazing, shocking actually. PanOptix® gave me that whole range of vision, right from seeing something really close to seeing a sign down the road, perfectly. I’m really looking forward to getting out my bike again. If you’re diagnosed with cataracts, it is important to find out what your options are. You have to think about what you want out of life. I would say, go for it. It’s life-changing, it’s a miracle for me.’

‘My name is Barry Long, I’ve been playing golf for a long time… I was having difficulty seeing the golf ball a long way away, so I knew I needed to have some sort of correction. My ophthalmologist told me… my vision had decreased and I did have cataracts and that it would be good to have these replaced sooner rather than later – I opted for the sooner, rather than the later. The morning after I had (cataract surgery), I looked out and I could see the Toronto skyline as far as could be from our place, and when I got the newspaper, I could read it perfectly with fine-print, which was remarkable. PanOptix® has given me a full range of vision, without question. Completely free of glasses, really quite amazing. I’m throwing away all my reading glasses in my office!’

‘I’m a retired teacher, I taught 34 years at Stoney Creek. Around the time before the surgery, I had stopped reading. It was just easier – gave me a headache. I heard about PanOptix® at a party, with my daughter and her girlfriends and one of the gals gave the great news that they were available. I wasn’t worried about the surgery going into it, because my sight was getting less and less, and I wanted great vision again. The surgery was great, really. I asked the nurse when I came back out of the operating room, ‘How long was that?’ She said, ’10 minutes.’ 10 minutes, in and out. It was wonderful. PanOptix® has allowed me the freedom of driving at night, to enjoy cards even more and now when my daughter can’t the small-print on a bottle, she hands it to me and I can read it! PanOptix® has benefitted my life by making it so much easier, and so much clearer and I am thrilled by how well I see – it’s just great.’
